Sequoia is an original composition in the key of C Major, arranged for 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, 5 Saxes, 4 Rhythm and "optional" wordless voice part.

Sequoia has a nice relaxed Waltz feel that includes various mutes for the brass section as well as doubles in the saxes to achieve some nice sonic colors. Solo sections for Tenor 2 and Guitar feature and the "optional" wordless voice part makes a nice addition if your band has a female vocalist! There is also a soli section that utilizes the Bass Trombone, Bass, and Piano playing in unison, set against woodwind pads.

Doubles include: Flugelhorn in the trumpet section, Bass Clarinet is utilized throughout in the bari part, Flutes in the alto parts, and clarinets in the Tenor parts. Alto 1 also incorporates Soprano Sax.

Doin' the Shake (Original Big Band Chart) $55.00

Doin' the Shake is a great addition to any big band library if you want something in a more funky/fusion vein! It has a very "Scofield" type of vibe and is a definite crowd pleaser! The chart is written as a guitar feature, but also includes a solo in the Tenor 1 part. Doin' the shake is not just another straight funk chart though as it features two interlude sections as well, one interlude after the Tenor 1 solo, and another "shout" type of interlude after the guitar solo. This is also great vehicle for a guitarist that feels at home in a rock/fusion type of style, using effects such as overdrive.

There are no doubles for the sax section, but the trumpet parts make use of Flugelhorn during one of the interlude sections.

Minor Catastrophe is an original C minor blues composition arranged for 4 Trumpets, 4 Trombones, 5 Saxes, and 4 Rhythm.

Minor Catastrophe is a medium-up tempo swing chart that includes an interlude with a Latin feel that is very Bob Mintzer-esque. This chart also has a very nice Thad Jones influenced 3 chorus sax soli, as well as an exciting 2 chorus full tutti shout section. One of the main twists in this arrangement is that after the shout chorus the melody does not return. Instead, the chart moves to a completely new vamp section that acts as a drum solo with new horn lines that slowly layer bringing the chart to an exciting ending! Solo sections are for Guitar and Tenor 1, but could easily be opened up to include as many soloists as needed.

Doubles include: Soprano Sax and Flute in the lead Alto part, Flute in the Alto 2 part, and Clarinet in the Tenor 2 part. Various mutes are employed in the brass sections.
